Martin Růžička

Born 1969 in Prague. I studied classical music at the Prague Conservatory, than traveled, played music, worked at occasional jobs, lead a nomadic life and gathered inspiration. When I settled back in the Czech Republic in 1999, I took on woodworking and carving fulltime. At first I made wooden masks and hand-carved wooden furniture, then I started with marionettes, gaining much attention of both, makers and theaters.
Since than I believe I can call myself a professional marionette maker.

In 2002 I spent a year in Barcelona (Spain), carving and studying the work of local marionette-makers.

I am active member of two R’n’R bands and one marionette theatre.
